This past week's weather has certainly had its ups and downs.
Sunday was sunny and the high was 60°. Monday and Tuesday were both sunny and in the low 80s. On Wednesday we had 60-70 mph winds, blizzard-like conditions but no accumulation, and icy rain. Today is Friday and we're back to sunny skies with a few wispy clouds. The high is expected to be 70°. Tomorrow's high shows 77° with the possibility of late-day thunderstorms.
Thus is the usual Kansas weather of March. One day warm and sunny, the next freezing and wintry.
If you read my previous post, we had that awful dirt storm a week ago today. I should have taken a photo of my vacuum cannister full of dirt after I cleaned. Yuck. The sad thing about that dirt storm was that there was a 77 car pileup on I-70 in northern Kansas near Colby in which eight people died. It was heart-breaking to see the photos of that in the news.
Jerry's wound care appointment yesterday was good. The ulcer is just a tiny sliver of open area that is now only about 3/4" by 1/8". Thank goodness that the doctor introduced us to the ointment that has been a godsend. It's been amazing to watch it grow new tissue to replace the old. It sure will be great when he no longer needs every other day dressing changes or these every other week appointments. I pray that time comes soon.
Son John just got a raise the other day, and another promotion may be coming soon (could take up to three months). His wife - daughter-in-law Katelyn - got a raise last month. They sure needed these raises because of all the medical bills from while they were both in the hospital.
Grandson Aero (John's son from a previous marriage) will be seven years old in a couple weeks. He was recently rated in the 90th percentile nationally for math! Woo-hoo! I'm so proud of him! He's taking after his dad, for sure.
Daughter-in-law Amanda (widow of my son, Jeff) still works for the local school system ... she's been with the district for sixteen years. I often wonder what Jeff would have achieved had he lived. I believe by now he might have been part of the management - or some higher position by now - at the company where he and John both worked when the industrial accident happened.
Grandson Andrew (Jeff/Amanda's son) is still a food service manager. His fiance - Kaylee - works at a daycare. Their daughter, Nilah, is three years old and the sweetest little girl.
Granddaughter Madison (Jeff/Amanda's daughter) is still working on a college degree, mostly doing it online so she can stay home with great-grandson Symere, who is a little over a year and a half. Symere has turned out to be a dare-devil of a little bugger. Madison's boyfriend, Jey, works as a stock clerk.
Granddaughter Kara (Jeff/Amanda's daughter) is a Junior in high school. She is a smart and wonderful young lady.
Son John and I pooled resources and we'll go to Autozone tomorrow morning to buy a water pump so he can work on my car. That doesn't fix everything that's wrong with my car, but it's a start.
Soon we'll be working on the garden area at John and Katelyn's so we can get things going. I want to get the onions in soon. We stopped growing potatoes a couple years ago ... too much of a hassle. The crocus and daffodils poked up from the ground at their house about two weeks ago. I noticed the trees budding about that time, too. Spring is beginning and I can hardly wait for the warmth of the sun on my back as I get my hands in the dirt again! The monarch butterflies and hummingbirds will soon be arriving!

Have a blessed weekend!

Good to see you blog again. Sure hope and pray that you get Jerry back home again. You have been through a rough patch.
ReplyDeleteRough patch is my name, haha. But we get through it!
DeleteLots going on. Glad to read that the wound is getting better. It's been crazy weather here too. A week ago we had 50's and now it's almost 90.
ReplyDeleteI'm one of those who lives for the 80 and 90 degree days of summer. Yeah, I'm that person, haha.
DeleteI hope the weather improves. It's been rough across the US. Hope all goes well with Jerry. The photo of the butterfly is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI think we have some colder weather coming next week, will have to see if it strays this far south in the state. I hope not! Thank you so much for thinking of Jerry! We'll get there eventually!
DeleteIt sounds like you've had a lot of family health issues to navigate and I hope your hubs is on the right track now. I think winter has ended in our area, but pollen falls like snow this time of year and is almost as much a nuisance. Thanks for visiting my blog, and for your kind comments. I like the ordinary everyday living style blogs too. I'm glad you've picked it back up...it's a nice record of life as it's lived and you have grandchildren who might enjoy reading back on it one day too. Take care.
ReplyDeleteIt has helped me to meet back up with some of my previous blog friends, and now the new ones like you! Thank you so much for visiting!
DeleteOne more thing...I host a link up on Wednesdays that's fun. It's a friendly group of bloggers and you're welcome to join if you're interested. I post questions on Sunday but the link goes up on Wednesday, hence the name The Wednesday Hodgepodge.
ReplyDeleteI will be looking for this tomorrow then! I love these types of things to get everyone involved!
DeleteHi Diana! It's good to see you blogging again, but I'm sorry you've had such a rough time lately. But - thankful for healing started for Jerry and a plan for the car. I've got your new blog saved on my feed.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to have made the connection with you again! I've been checking your recipes from the past few months and going to try making several. And just maybe invite the grandkids over for a gramma cooking day to share with them. Hugs!
DeleteSo many of us following the same bloggers, yes! I love the community we have together with each other, sharing the ups and downs of life. I missed that and am so glad I decided to restart it all. And so happy to make new friends like you! Thank you for your kind words about me and Jerry. We'll get through it all. Blessings!
