March 8, 2025

Jerry was dismissed from his second hospital stay on February 25 to return to the nursing facility for a second stretch of antibiotic infusion, this time of longer duration. It will be finished tomorrow, so we're hoping to get him transferred back to the original nursing facility we had him in before all of this started (UTI, long hospital stays, etc.). We already know they would be happy to take him back, and the Directors of Nursing at both facilities told me a room should be available quickly for Jerry. Please pray we get him back up there without too much trouble and no more set-backs or going to the hospital. He does, however, have a huge problem with lymphedema in both legs and feet. He likens the pain to broken glass under the skin and can't even wear shoes because of it and his feet being so swollen. He can barely get his jeans on right now. The DON at the facility and I have been trying to contact our doctor. I have a feeling she's been gone all week, so nothing will be done until Monday or so. Please pray the doctor replies soon and orders something to get the lynphedema under control quickly, otherwise there is a chance all our work over the past year and a half with Jerry's lower left leg wound care will go backwards. The wound is almost healed!

I'm stuck at home without transportation. The car is just sitting in the parking lot for now. Too many mechanical problems and no extra money to fix them. John lets me use his car - a big Suburban, which I love! - to get things done. But I can't always be doing that because it takes so much money to put gas in that thing. So, the times I use it are limited to the income I can part with for gas usage. For the most part, I only use it to get to Jerry's doctor appointments (the facility van brings him into town), and usually, I get any groceries I might need right after.

The doctor appointments are basically the only times I get to see Jerry. I did see him a couple times during his two hospital stays in February. We miss each other something fierce. But he calls me every other evening at 6:00, so there's that. Our 30th anniversary is coming up on March 30. We already know we probably won't see each other that day, so will rely on a phone call to be together.

January and February were awful winter months. As of tomorrow, warmer temperatures are coming, mostly in the next week. Some near 80° ... yay! I haven't done well through this winter of deep snows and ice, howling winds, and arctic temperatures, and will be glad to see it end. Once Spring it really here, I will probably sit in John's backyard for a few days, just soaking up the heat into my bones and crying with relief for the change in seasons. I only ever look forward to being outside in the warmth of the sun and working in a garden (at John's nowadays). Tonight the clocks go forward one hour... perhaps that will begin to help me in the coming days. I pray so.

I received one more painting from great-grandson Symere to me, with help from his mommy (granddaughter Madison) and daddy (Jey). Madison knows how much I love cardinals - and I so love this painting of little Sy's feet as the cardinals!  ðŸ¥° ❤️

That's all for now.
